What a thrill it is to share traditional worship at Asbury!
My family moved from Pittsburgh, PA when in 1977 (Go Steelers!) and I grew up about a mile from where Leesville High School is now. I sang in the Raleigh Boychoir, played and sang at Ligon Middle and Enloe High Schools, and received my music education degree from UNCG in 1991. Growing up in the Lutheran tradition, I have made music with Presbyterian, Episcopal, and Baptist congregations before leading the music at Fairmont Methodist since 2006. Most of my career, I have also been a middle and high school band director as well.
When asked what my favorite hymn or anthem is, I always say it is what we are currently singing. I believe worship should be novel and also comfortable, varied yet familiar, hopeful and uplifting. Most importantly, worship should encourage and call upon the many talents of our body of Christ.
