We’re told it is important to be flexible…and it is! The question is “how flexible?” Sometimes we bend and bend until we’re bent over and the pressure keeps coming. When do you make a stand and how? This week we are reading Mark 8:31-38 where Jesus makes a stand. The disciples didn’t understand. Things were going well and if they remained flexible, avoided the right people and kept impressing the crowds, they could really go places. But…which places? Peter quietly tried to redirect Jesus only to be sternly rebuked. Jesus said “Get behind me Satan because you have in mind the things of man and not the things of God!’ Those words must have stung. Jesus wasn’t interested in mass appeal or playing it safe. Jesus was serious about God’s work and willing to do difficult things because they were right. How do you know if you’re choosing the right path and making the right stands? Be sure to worship this weekend and we’ll explore together how we can all have in mind the things of God and be blessed for it. Make plans right now to come Sunday at 9:30 for contemporary or 11 AM Traditional. Be sure also to invite at least one other person or family to come with you. You’ll both be glad you did!
