The world is upside down so if I’m upside down in the world then I might actually be right side up. Don’t you feel like the world is upside down? A few years ago it was all the rage to invert the Christmas tree so that the wide part was at the top and the narrow part at the bottom…this allowed for many more gifts at the bottom and isn’t that what Christmas is all about? Getting more and more gifts? Thankfully, that trend didn’t really catch on but you can still see a few odd trees out and about. This week we are looking at the real meaning of Christmas. Our text is Isaiah 61 and the theme is joy as we light the 3rd Advent Candle this week. We won’t find lasting joy at Crabtree Valley Mall or in getting a whole bunch of gifts. The world has that all upside down. Joy comes from God and this week we’ll find out together how to be right side up in God’s eyes, even if that makes us upside down in the eyes of the world. Make plans now to come at 9:30 and or 11 AM this Sunday and invite friends, family, neighbors and even strangers you meet along the way…they’ll all be glad you did!
