I would not want to be a stock broker or investment counsellor. I make investments and rely on the advice of a few financial advisors but I know I am not cut out to do that kind of work. I don’t think I could sleep at night knowing advice I am giving might put someone’s retirement or college savings at risk. I am grateful for the skill and the expertise of those who can offer that kind of advice. My advisors have helped me make sound investments that are returning a respectable yield. What kind of investments are you making? What kind of return are you getting on your investments? This week we are looking at the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. Speaking of judgment, Jesus told a story about a wealthy master who entrusted servants with large sums of money. The servants who used the master’s money to make more were praised. The one who kept it hidden safe was first scolded and then cast into outer darkness. You see, God has invested a great deal in you and me. All that we have is a gift from God. From this story, it is clear that God is expecting a return on the investment made in you and me. What kind of return are you giving God? What kind of return is God looking for any way? Be sure to worship this Sunday and we’ll discover together how we can be blessed as become a high yield investment for God! Invite friends, co-workers, neighbors and even people you meet along the way…they’ll be glad you did!
