THIS SUNDAY @ ASBURY #getback2church
Sermon Preview: “Now!”
Tom Newman, Lead Pastor
Time…it just flies by! Doesn’t it? I remember learning how to tell time on my first wrist watch. It had Roman numerals and looked fancy to me. It was also hard to read and I envied people with digital watches. Our fascination with time never ends…sometimes it is the enemy and sometimes it is our friend, but it is always on the move. This week we are focusing on time. In Romans 13:8-14, we are told that it is time to awake and that the time of salvation is at hand. What does that mean? Clearly, now isn’t an easy time, but it is the time we have. How do we make the most of our time and where does God fit into the hours and minutes of our day? Be sure to worship this weekend and we’ll talk about time and discern together how to make the most of the time we have right now. Be sure to invite people you care about to come with you…they’ll be glad you did!

Prayer after 9:30 AM Service
If you would like prayer after the 9:30 AM service, a caring individual in room 302 or 303 will be waiting to pray with you.
We need 100+ volunteers to spread out over the campus and rake, spread mulch, trim shrubs, paint, and weed eat. WE NEED YOU! There will be jobs for all ages…it’s a great opportunity to serve together as a family or as a LifeGroup. Grab some lawn tools and gloves and join us – work begins at 8 AM but we welcome late arrivals too.

Become a LRES Lion Pal
The mission of the Lion Pals program is to provide identified students at Lynn Road Elementary School with a mentor who can consistently offer support and guidance on a one-on-one basis at school throughout the year. Lion Pals are expected to meet with their students once a week for a minimum of 15 minutes, at a time that is convenient for both Lion Pal and the student. Lion Pals will also be invited to participate in a couple of special celebrations held during the school year. If you are interested in finding out more about this program, please email Melissa Plum, Lynn Road’s school social worker, at email@example.com.

Are you interested in exploring membership at Asbury or being baptized? Our next Membership and Baptism Sunday is October 8 and attendance at a Discovering Asbury class is a prerequisite for membership. Our next class is being held on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 6:00 PM. We will meet in Asbury North – Room 307/308 and a light dinner will be served. Reservations are required (can be done in our membership database) for class attendance and nursery age children childcare. The baptism class will follow at 7:30 PM and will be in Room 301. Contact Alicia Petty for more information.
Our GroupLink being held on Sunday, September 10 will be at 10:30 AM in our Courtyard. The time of the event was intentionally scheduled so that everyone from both services may attend and have an equal opportunity to sign up for a LifeGroup. We have lots of new groups and leaders and the listing of all available LifeGroups can be found here. We are also excited to have two fall studies held this year. One is being led by our very own Pastor Tom Newman, and will tackle a question we all ask sometimes – why do bad things happen to good people? You will also find that our Women’s Monday Night Study will be returning with a study of “The Patriarch’s.” Be sure to click on the link to see what groups you can sign up for!
