Weekly Update – Sept. 24, 2017

THIS SUNDAY @ ASBURY
Sermon Preview: “Hey! Not Fair!”
Matthew 20:1-16
Tom Newman, Lead Pastor

elderly man and young child“Hey! NO Fair!” We learned to shout these words even before heading to kindergarten. Every game we played had to be fair. Somehow, we got the notion that life must be fair too. It’s not. We live in a world where innocent people are victims of terrible crimes, little children get diseases like cancer and the “playing field” is unequal in many ways. Some of us get a lot better than we deserve while other get much worse…and we wonder why. This Sunday we’ll read Matthew 20:1-16 and consider ways God isn’t fair and how that actually might be a good thing. Maybe we don’t want things to be fair if we can have grace instead. Be sure to worship this weekend and bring friends, loved ones and acquaintances with you…they’ll be glad you did!
