ABOUT ASBURY CHURCH

We Want To See God Move in North Raleigh and Around the World

Together we are a community of believers who value community above all else. What does that mean, the word community? We believe that together in relationship, we grow closer to God and one another. The bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger.

We strive to be a church without walls. Jesus calls us to go outside the walls and reach the lost and the lonely.  Most churches find it is comfortable to stay within the walls, but we make an effort to be the church sent out, dreaming of transformation for North Raleigh.

We highly value our relationships with one another. We look to grow through relationship, ultimately growing closer to God. We value the word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and lonely, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.

OUR HISTORY

Invested in Being the Church in the Heart of North Raleigh

  1. Founded in 1979 in the livingroom of a home in the neighborhood in our backyard originally as a church plant of the United Methodist Church.
  2. Gathered in Jeffreys Grove Elementary School until we moved to our current location in 1983.
  3. Asbury Preschool began as a Mom's Morning out in 1985 and grew to a 5-day-a-week and 5-star program soon after.
  4. Asbury was hit by a Tornado in 1988 and rebuilt the South Building as our community continued to grow.
  5. Asbury streamlined its focus over the last decade to invest in worship, groups, and service as we partner with families for our kids and student ministries.
  6. Asbury is all in for our online experience with a quality live stream and strong social media ministry which kept us connected and thriving together throughout COVID.
  7. Asbury Church has been blessed to continue to grow and thrive in 2022 and cannot wait to see what new things God has in store including launching our men's, women's, and marriage ministries!
  8. In 2023, Asbury Church will officially become the only Global Methodist Church in North Raleigh.
